How to use these papers

Do the organic questions from several different sessions in one sitting rather than working through whole papers. Organic is where the marks concentrate and where the same transformations recur across years, so seeing five years of them together builds the reaction map far faster than meeting one per paper.

Mark yourself strictly on conditions and mechanism arrows. The scheme pays for reagent, conditions and the arrow-pushing separately, and an answer with the right product and none of those scores a fraction of what it looks like it deserves. If you would not accept your own answer as a marker, do not award it.

For the practical papers, work through the mark schemes for the planning and analysis questions even where you have not done the experiment. They reward a small, repeated set of moves — controlling a variable, justifying a choice of apparatus, quoting an uncertainty — that transfer directly to whichever experiment comes up.
