Tips

Further Mathematics 9231 assumes 9709 is already secure, so a weak paper here is often a Pure problem in disguise. When a question collapses, check first whether the failure was the further topic or the algebra underneath it.

Do the proofs by hand, every time. Induction, matrices, complex numbers and differential equations are marked on the logic of the argument, and a solution that jumps to the result loses the marks that were in the steps you skipped.

Sit each component to time before you sit it for real. These papers are short on time rather than short on ideas, and knowing which question to leave until last is a decision worth practising rather than discovering in the exam hall.
