How to use these papers

Check your tier before you print anything. Papers 1 and 3 are Core, Papers 2 and 4 are Extended, and Papers 5 and 6 are the practical routes — working the wrong tier wastes time on content you will never be asked and leaves you unpractised on what you will.

The fastest gains in this subject come from marking your own paper harshly for units and significant figures. Those are scheme points, they recur in every session, and they are free once the habit is there. Count how many marks a paper cost you on presentation alone; for most students it is more than the physics did.

Work the practical paper for your tier even if your school does the alternative-to-practical route, or the reverse. The two share their reasoning — identifying a variable, spotting why a reading is unreliable — and doing both gives you twice the practice at the part that transfers.
