How to use these papers

Work the data-response questions before the essays. They are where the diagram and the evaluation habits are built, and the essays become much easier once those are automatic. Sketch every diagram a question implies even when it does not ask for one — the marks often appear for it anyway.

Mark yourself on structure rather than on content. An answer that defines, draws, analyses and then evaluates will out-score a better-informed answer that does those in a jumble or stops after analysis. Check specifically whether you wrote a judgement with a reason, or just listed both sides and left it there.

Examiner reports are worth more here than in most subjects: they say plainly which diagrams candidates drew wrongly and which evaluation points were missing, year after year. Read the report for a paper after you have worked it, not before.
