Where you are

Put in your four section scores. Universities set a floor on each section as well as on the overall score, so the weakest number usually decides the offer.

The one thing that moves a section fastest

Get a piece of writing marked, now Write an email or an academic discussion post under the real clock and get it scored on task completion, organisation, vocabulary and grammar — with one paragraph of your own writing rewritten a level higher. 20 academic discussions · 12 emails

The four sections

  • Reading

About 30 minutes, about 50 items. Everyday texts now sit beside the academic passage — practise both, and practise against a clock.

  • Listening

About 29 minutes, about 47 items, each recording played once. Notes are the skill: write the shape of the talk, not its words.

  • Writing

About 23 minutes. Build a Sentence rewards accuracy, the email rewards register, and the academic discussion rewards answering a classmate.

  • Speaking

About 8 minutes into a microphone, with nobody in the room. Start within a second and finish your sentences.

Why there is no practice score here

From January 2026 the TOEFL iBT is adaptive: the items you see depend on how you are doing, so two candidates sitting on the same day do not take the same test. That is why a practice set on this site reports how many you got right and the level the material was written for, and never a 1-to-6 score. Nobody can convert one into the other, and a site that offers to is guessing.

Official ETS material, and what it is not

The Library carries the ETS guides we are allowed to host. Everything else on this track — the notes, the lessons, the writing tasks — is written here for Chinese candidates.

There are no released TOEFL papers in the sense that IGCSE or A-Level papers exist, and the 2026 format means older practice material describes a different test. Treat any pre-2026 book, video or shared question file as out of date.
