Tips

Read the scoring guidelines before working more questions. They are unusually explicit about wording, and they show that most lost marks are in the conclusion, not the calculation.

Write out all four steps every time, even when the arithmetic is trivial. The habit is what protects you when the question is not.

The investigative task is worth 25% of the free-response section. It is deliberately unfamiliar, so practise it specifically — the goal is not to have seen the context, but to be comfortable reasoning in one you have not.
