Write the justification, every time. A correct answer with no reasoning routinely scores 1 of 3. "Because f′ changes from positive to negative at x = 2" is the sentence the rubric is looking for.

Practise the calculator-active and no-calculator sections separately — they demand different habits, and the no-calculator section is where algebra fluency shows.

Always attach units in context questions. It is a small, repeated, entirely avoidable loss, and the scoring guidelines make it explicit.
