What this topic teaches
Two adjective patterns carry a lot of HSK 4 meaning. all全 + noun sweeps up a whole thing in one move — the whole family, all year, the entire school. adjective形容词 + to die死(completed / change)了 cranks an adjective to its limit — starving, exhausted, hideous. Both are tested on word order, not on vocabulary: the exam checks whether all / both都 arrives, whether (modifier / structural particle)的 stays away, and whether the feeling suits the pattern.
Work through each structure, say the examples aloud, and finish with the review questions. The sentences are classroom examples written for this course.
all全 + noun: the whole thing in one sweep
Structure: all全 + Noun + all / both都 + Predicate
whole family全家all / both都去过Beijing, capital of the…北京。 (Quán jiā dōu qù guo Běijīng.) — Our whole family has been to Beijing.
this这个area地方the whole year全年all / both都degree / adjective linker很to warm up热。 (Zhège dìfang quánnián dōu hěn rè.) — This place is hot all year round.
all全 in front of a noun means "the whole, entire" thing. It bonds to a small set of sustantivos "entero": body身 (cuerpo), home家 (familia), country国 (país), world世界 (mundo), (bound form) school校 (escuela), grain年 (año) — y requiere un all / both都 en el predicado para reflejar el "todo".
La única regla que debes memorizar: all全 no lleva (modifier / structural particle)的. whole family全家 ✓, all全(modifier / structural particle)的home家 ✗.
Practícalo. Un compañero escribe all全(modifier / structural particle)的home家all / both都to come来(completed / change)了。 Arregléalo: hay que quitar el de — whole family全家all / both都to come来(completed / change)了。
(Quán jiā dōu lái le.) — Toda la familia ha venido.
Precaución
- Solo se une a sustantivos "enteros": body身, home家, country国, (bound form) school校, grain年, world世界. No dirías entire book全书 para "el libro entero" en este patrón en HSK 4.
- Dónde se coloca not不 cambia todo: all全都不去 (quán dōu bù qù) significa "ninguno va en absoluto", mientras que not不all全都to go去 (bù quán dōu qù) significa "no todos van". Una palabra de posición invierte completamente el significado — una trampa favorita en los exámenes.
Adjetivo + to die死(completed / change)了: "hasta la muerte, extremadamente"
Estructura: (Sujeto +) Adjetivo + to die死(completed / change)了
I / me我to starve to death饿死(completed / change)了! (Wǒ è sǐ le!) — ¡Estoy muriendo de hambre!
today今天累死(completed / change)了! (Jīntiān lèi sǐ le!) — ¡Estoy agotado hoy!
这件clothes衣服丑死(completed / change)了。 (Zhè jiàn yīfu chǒu sǐ le.) — Este atuendo es espantoso.
to die死(completed / change)了 después de un adjetivo lo intensifica al límite — "hasta la muerte, extremadamente". Es la equivalencia exacta del inglés "scared to death" o "bored to death": vívido, coloquial y orientado hacia sentimientos desagradables. El sujeto es opcional, por lo que exclamaciones de una sola palabra como to starve to death饿死(completed / change)了! funcionan solas.
La regla de unión: to die死(completed / change)了 se une directamente — sin (degree marker)得. 累死(completed / change)了 ✓, rope累(degree marker)得to die死(completed / change)了 ✗.
Pruébalo. Es una tarde calurosa y acabas de subir cuatro tramos de escalera. Di eso: 热死(completed / change)了! (Rè sǐ le!) — ¡Está hirviendo!
Precaución
- to die死(completed / change)了 es el primo teatral de extremely极了 — más ruidoso, más informal ymain主要to use in用于to express表达pain痛苦: rope累 cansado, to be hungry饿 hambriento, to warm up热 caliente, shameful丑 feo.
- Debido a que es casual e intenso, se adapta al habla cotidiana y a las entradas de diario, no a un ensayo formal.
Elegir la herramienta adecuada
| Patrón | Significado | Registro | La regla que se evalúa |
|---|---|---|---|
| all全 + N + all / both都 + V | todo X, todo en su conjunto | neutro | sin (modifier / structural particle)的; all / both都 refleja el "todo" |
| Adj + to die死(completed / change)了 | extremadamente, … hasta morir | casual, intenso | adjetivo desnudo; sensaciones desagradables |
Lee la situación antes de elegir. "Toda la clase aprobó" es un informe neutral: the whole class全班all / both都to pass through通过(completed / change)了。 (Quán bān dōu tōngguò le.) "Estoy muriendo de cansancio" es una queja entre amigos: 累死(completed / change)了. Mezclar los registros — anunciar the whole class全班to die死(completed / change)了 en un informe formal — es ese tipo de colisión que el examen busca detectar.
