    18.1

    跟 … 比(起来) — "comparado com"

Para começar com uma comparação, abra com with / and跟gēn A than / compared to比bǐ((after a verb) indicating…起来qǐ lái), depois comente sobre B — "comparado com A, B é ...." Estabelece a régua primeiro, depois faz o ponto. (with / and跟gēn ≈ and / with和hé aqui; with / and跟gēn é ligeiramente mais comum.) B também pode começar a frase.

    Estrutura: 跟 + A + 比(起来) ,B + Comment

    compared with跟gēnShanghai上海Shàng hǎi比bǐmy,我wǒhometown老家lǎo jiā的deprices物价wù jiàvery很hěnlow低dī。

Comparado com Xangai, os preços na minha terra natal são muito baixos.

the younger sister妹妹mèi meicompared with跟gēnthe elder姐姐jiě jie比起来bǐ qǐ láia bit有点yǒu diǎnshy害羞hài xiū。

Comparada com sua irmã mais velha, a mais nova é um pouco tímida.

Lembre-se: with / and跟gēn A than / compared to比bǐ = "segurando-o contra A…" — o marco de referência primeiro, o veredito segundo. Note que, diferentemente de uma oração than / compared to比bǐ nua, este enquadramento permite degree / adjective linker很hěn ((commodity) prices物价wù jiàdegree / adjective linker很hěnlow低dī), pois é um comentário, não um A-than / compared to比bǐ-B direto.

    Cuidado

    • Para um simples "A é mais X que B", o than / compared to比bǐ básico basta: Athan / compared to比bǐBhigh高gāo.
    18.2

    比 … 更 / 还 — "ainda mais"

Em uma comparação than / compared to比bǐ, remova more更gèng ou still / also还hái antes do adjetivo para significar que a primeira coisa é ainda mais assim — muitas vezes com uma sutil sugestão de que "(B já é muito …, e A supera)".

    Estrutura: Noun 1 + 比 + Noun 2 + 更 / 还 + Adjective

    Shanghai上海Shàng hǎithan比bǐNew York纽约Niǔ yuēpopulation人口rén kǒueven更gèngbigger多duō。

A população de Xangai é ainda maior que a de Nova York.

    he他tāthan比bǐYao Ming姚明Yáo Míngeven还háitaller高gāo。

Ele é ainda mais alto que Yao Ming.

Lembre-se: more更gèng / still / also还hái = "ainda mais." still / also还hái especialmente insinua "(e o outro já está altíssimo)" — than / compared to比bǐYao Ming (1980-), retired…姚明yáo míngstill / also还háihigh高gāo admite silenciosamente que Yao Ming já é um gigante. Regra crucial: uma oração than / compared to比bǐ nunca leva degree / adjective linker很hěn / very非常fēi cháng — o grau vem de more更gèng / still / also还hái / many多duō(completed / change)了le.

    Cuidado

    • than / compared to比bǐ + degree / adjective linker很hěn é um erro clássico: diga than / compared to比bǐhe / him他tāhigh高gāo ou than / compared to比bǐhe / him他tāmore更gènghigh高gāo, nunca than / compared to比bǐhe / him他tādegree / adjective linker很hěnhigh高gāo.

    比 … 形容词 + 多了 — "muito mais"

Para enfatizar uma grande diferença, feche uma comparação than / compared to比bǐ com many多duō(completed / change)了le (ou (degree marker)得demany多duō / 很多hěn duō) — "muito mais ...." many多duō(completed / change)了le também funciona sozinho: many好多hǎo duō(completed / change)了le ("muito melhor").

    Estrutura: Noun 1 + 比 + Noun 2 + Adjective + 多了 / 得多 / 很多

    pinyin拼音pīn yīnthan比bǐcharacters汉字Hàn zìeasy容易róng yìmuch多了duō le。

Pinyin é muito mais fácil que caracteres.

taking坐zuòthe bullet train高铁gāo tiěthan比bǐtaking坐zuòthe plane飞机fēi jīconvenient方便fāng biànmuch more得多de duō。

O trem-bala é muito mais conveniente que voar.

Lembre-se: avalie a diferença no final: grande diferença → many多duō(completed / change)了le / (degree marker)得demany多duō / 很多hěn duō; pequena diferença → a bit一点yì diǎn (easy容易róng yìa bit一点yì diǎn, "um pouco mais fácil"). E, novamente, nunca degree / adjective linker很hěn / very非常fēi cháng dentro de uma oração than / compared to比bǐ.

    Cuidado

    • many多duō(completed / change)了le / (degree marker)得demany多duō / 很多hěn duō ficam depois do adjetivo: 高多gāo duō(completed / change)了le, 高得gāo démany多duō — nunca many多duō(completed / change)了lehigh高gāo.
    18.4

    A + 有 + B + 形容词 + 吗? — "tão … quanto?"

to have / there is有yǒu pode fazer mais que "ter" — numa comparação significa "tão … quanto": "A to have / there is有yǒu B + Adj" = "A é tão [Adj] quanto B." Aparece principalmente em perguntas, onde B é a referência contra a qual você mede, frequentemente com so much这么zhè me / like that那么nà me.

    Estrutura: A + 有 + B + (这么 / 那么) + Adjective + 吗?

    he他tāas有yǒume我wǒhandsome帅shuài吗ma?

Ele é tão bonito quanto eu?

    he他tāas有yǒuYao Ming姚明Yáo Míngthat那么nà metall高gāo吗ma?

Ele é realmente tão alto quanto Yao Ming?

Lembre-se: to have / there is有yǒu = "atinge até" (tão … quanto); not have / haven't没有méi yǒu = "fica aquém de" (não tão … quanto). A pergunta to have / there is有yǒu…(yes/no ?)吗ma? questiona "A atinge B?"; a resposta é to have / there is有yǒu / not have / haven't没有méi yǒu (not have / haven't没有méi yǒu你帅nǐ shuài, "não é tão bonito quanto você").

    Cuidado

    • Usado principalmente em perguntas e negativas, não em afirmações puras. Para uma afirmação pura use with / and跟gēn…same一样yī yàng ("igual a") ou than / compared to比bǐ ("mais que").
