Keep a record while the learning is fresh
- A reflective learning journal 反思学习日志 records what you tried, what you noticed and what you will change. Write a short entry after a meaningful task rather than trying to reconstruct a whole semester at the end.
- This lesson uses original GAC003-aligned practice, not an official marking rule. Follow your centre's actual task instructions. Keep work samples and feedback beside the entry so your account rests on evidence.
Describe, evaluate and plan
- Reflection · Reflexión 反思 goes beyond recording an event. Describe · Descripción 描述 the task and your action, then evaluate 评价 the result using an example or a check. “It was hard” does not identify what you need to work on.
- Plan 计划 one change you can test. Include a task, a review point and what you will observe. Separate completing the practice from showing that it helped: both deserve a record.
Put the three moves of a reflective entry in order.
Description alone is a diary. The evaluation and the plan are what make it reflection.
A difficulty suggests a question, not a diagnosis
- Chen plotted points correctly but could not explain slope in English. Vocabulary may be one difficulty, but the record does not establish that he understands the whole concept. Check the explanation and the language rather than guessing that only one matters.
- A useful next task compares explanations with and without a short term list. Ask a partner to identify the graph feature being described and check Chen's explanation against the worked example. Record any remaining confusion about the graph idea or its wording.
Weak: “Today we learned graphs. It was hard. I will study more.”
Stronger: “I plotted the points correctly but could not explain slope in English. I will use three key terms to explain a new example on Thursday, then compare my explanation with the worked solution. I will record which idea or word still causes difficulty.”
The second entry names evidence, keeps its explanation provisional and defines a check. It does not invent a successful result.
Which journal entry best connects evidence with a checkable next action?
It names an observed difficulty and a checkable action without claiming that the cause or future result is already known.
Write one journal sentence about a class this week that names a specific difficulty and one checkable action.
Example: "I could not explain the water cycle in English, so on Wednesday I will record myself explaining it in two minutes."
A preference is not a permanent limit
- A learning style 学习风格 can describe a preference such as finding a diagram helpful. That observation does not establish a fixed ability or excuse skipping reading, listening or other required practice.
- Try a diagram alongside the paragraph, then check whether you can explain the idea without copying either. Keep the strategy if the evidence supports it; change it if the difficulty remains. Enjoying a method and learning from it are different observations.
Which use of a learning style is useful rather than an excuse?
A preference tells you how to get in to hard material. It does not tell you which material to skip. · Una preferencia te indica cómo acceder a material difícil. No te dice qué material omitir.
Close the loop at the next review
- Return to the plan and record what you actually did. If Thursday's practice was missed, say so and reschedule. If you completed it, include the check result and one limit, such as testing only one example.
- At the next review, compare the new record with the earlier one. Improvement on one graph does not establish that every graph is now easy. Keep the next unresolved question visible.
"I will study harder next week" counts as a decision in a reflective entry.
A decision must be checkable next week. Name the task, the language and the day.
Keep the account truthful and your own
- Keep the reflection truthful and in your own words. Use permitted help to understand feedback or practise language, then follow the task's authorship rules. Do not invent events or present someone else's account as your learning record.
- Keep your dated notes and work samples so you can explain the entry. If a detail is uncertain, say so rather than supplying an impressive result that was never observed.
A useful entry connects an observed difficulty, a possible explanation, a feasible action and a later check. A specific plan is stronger than “try harder”, even before its outcome is known.
