An email needs facts and an action for its reader. A discussion needs a developed view, and a sentence task needs accurate construction. Choose the writing job first.

Build a Sentence and Write an Email
- Build a Sentence: you assemble or complete a grammatical sentence. Accuracy is the point. Write an Email: a short email that does a job — reply, request, explain.
- Match the register to the reader. An email to a professor is not an email to a roommate.

Academic Discussion
- You read a class question and other students' posts, then add your own.
- Contribute something new: a reason, an example, or a limit on someone else's claim. Repeating the prompt in different words is not a contribution.

How to practise
- Open a timed Writing section: ten sentence items, one email and one discussion share a 23-minute practice clock. The numbered navigation lets you revisit a task in this section. When you finish or time expires, responses lock. Export the free review, check each requirement, then revise your draft; the review does not assess writing quality or predict a score.
- For Academic Discussion, write as if the other posts are already there. Do not restart the thread. Sample prompts in the Library are for format. Do not memorise them as model answers.

2026 format

- Writing is linear; Reading and Listening are adaptive. Our Reading + Writing rehearsal uses fresh fixed questions and local section navigation. It covers two skills, with no listening or speaking recording and no official score conversion.

Let the task decide what your writing must do
- A sentence item needs a grammatical order. An email asks the recipient to act. A discussion asks you to develop a view in response to other ideas. An essay template cannot do all three jobs.
- Before drafting, identify the reader and demand. Leave a little of the section time to check the words you actually wrote; equal time per item would give compositions too little attention.
- Our training time splits are study choices. The published section base time does not prescribe a separate fixed time for each task.
- Build the sentence accurately; make the email actionable; develop and support the discussion contribution.
- Try the transfer checks below before returning to the explanation. These are original self-checks, with no official score conversion.
