Women's Roles and Status ·
Three things define the lives described
- The lives of women were defined by family and work responsibilities, economic changes, and feminism.
- Three factors, and the CED's list mixes the private, the structural and the political.
- So an answer needs all three registers, not only the movement.
Select all · 所有 three things the CED says defined women's lives.
Private, structural and political registers together. ·
What the course has already recorded
- 5.4: participation in the revolution, brief legal improvements, citizenship soon restricted to men.
- 6.4: the cult of domesticity with distinct gender roles, then laws restricting the labour of women.
- 8.10: during the world wars women became increasingly involved in military and political mobilisation, as well as in economic production.
The CED says the movements... · CED
A carefully weighted sentence, to be reproduced not simplified. ·
And what this unit adds
- 9.14: various movements, including women's movements... worked for expanded civil rights, in some cases obtaining the goals they sought, and in others facing strong opposition.
- That clause is carefully balanced — some goals obtained, some opposed — and it should be reproduced as written.
- 9.14 also records the baby boom, often promoted by government policies, which shaped the same lives.
Which stage of the course's longest thread? ·
Sort each statement by where the CED records it.
Match each stage to what the CED records there.
The course's clearest single thread across units. ·
The CED's balance clause must be reproduced, not simplified. Movements worked for expanded civil rights, in some cases obtaining the goals they sought, and in others facing strong opposition — an answer that reports only success, or only opposition, has taken half of a carefully weighted sentence.
The CED says the baby boom was often promoted by government policies. · CED
Which shaped the same lives the objective is about.
Development and change, over two centuries
- The objective spans the 20th and 21st centuries, so the answer is a trajectory, not a snapshot.
- Development: entry into economic production, then into political and military mobilisation, then into formal civil rights.
- Change: what counts as a woman's expected role shifts each time the economy or the state demands something new.
The objective spans the 20th and ____ centuries, so the answer is a trajectory.
Not a snapshot. ·
Writing across the course
- This is the course's clearest single thread across units, and an answer should say so.
- Name one instance from unit 5, one from unit 6 or 8, and one from unit 9, then state what changed between them.
- The CED has placed material in all three, so using all three is following its design.
A role described as natural in one decade is described as a wartime necessity in the next and as a right in the one after. Nothing about the work itself changed across those three descriptions; what changed was who needed it done and how they justified asking.
