A portfolio, not a test
- The AP exam is a portfolio 作品集, not a written test — submitted digitally in early May (CED Big Idea 3).
- Sustained Investigation: 15 images of works and process, plus writing — 60%.
- Selected Works 精选作品: 5 works demonstrating synthesis — 40%.
How many works are in the Selected Works section?
Five works (40%); the SI has 15 images (60%).
Selected Works may include pieces made outside the Sustained Investigation.
Choose your five strongest, wherever they came from.
One skill set, submitted digitally
- Everything uploads through the AP Digital Portfolio 数字作品集平台; your teacher reviews before submission.
- Drawing, 2-D, and 3-D are separate portfolios — submit work made for the Drawing skill set.
- Selected Works may come from inside or outside the investigation.
Which portfolio section?
Sort each item into the section it belongs to.
Select all true statements about the portfolio.
It is a portfolio, not a written exam.
Plan backwards from May
- Photography, writing, and selection all take real calendar time.
- Plan backwards from the May deadline, not forwards from today.
- A portfolio finished in a panic looks like one.
Everything is uploaded through the AP Digital ____.
The AP Digital Portfolio.
Match the section to its weight.
60 / 40 split.
Submitting Drawing work under the 2-D portfolio (or vice versa) wastes months of effort on the wrong rubric. Confirm early which portfolio your work belongs to — the skill set, not your preference, decides.
A year mapped backwards: May submit; April photograph and write; March select the five; September–February make the 15-image investigation. Each stage gets real weeks — nothing is crammed into the final night.
The AP Drawing exam is a portfolio: Sustained Investigation (15 images, 60%) + Selected Works (5 works, 40%), uploaded to the AP Digital Portfolio. Confirm it is the Drawing skill set, and plan backwards from May.
