Take responsibility and use support
- Independent learning 自主学习 means taking responsibility for preparation, progress and review. It does not mean refusing help or studying alone.
- This is original GAC003-aligned practice. Check the actual task, choose a feasible action and use permitted support when an instruction or resource is missing.
Preview with a question in mind
- Preview assigned material before class where required. Identify its main topic and one point you cannot yet explain; keep that question for class or a later check.
- Skimming may help you notice unfamiliar words, but it does not guarantee understanding. Record what remains unclear instead of claiming that looking over the page completes the learning.
Previewing assigned material can help you identify a question, even when you do not yet understand the whole passage.
A preview can identify an unfamiliar term or relationship to ask about. It does not guarantee that the material is understood.
Set a goal with a quality check
- A learning goal 学习目标 names what you intend to demonstrate, the conditions and a review point. Include a way to judge the result rather than merely counting minutes or pages.
- “By Friday, explain the water cycle without notes and compare my account with the course diagram” is checkable. Record a missing stage honestly and choose the next practice task.
Which learning goal is usable? · Quel objectif d'apprentissage est exploitable ?
It specifies an observable task and deadline. Add an accuracy check against the article; completing the talk alone does not establish a correct summary.
Write one learning goal for this week that someone else could check on Friday.
Example: "By Friday I will explain the carbon cycle in English for two minutes without notes."
Distinguish completion from understanding
- “Improve my English” gives no specific task or check. “By Friday, summarise one article aloud in two minutes, then compare its main claim and support with my summary” provides both.
- Speaking for two minutes shows that the activity happened; it does not establish that the summary was accurate. Record omissions and unsupported details as well as the completion.
Prepare and verify group explanations
- Group study 小组学习 can use prepared explanations, questions and comparison with course material. Agree on the task and permitted collaboration rather than assuming any shared answer may be submitted.
- An explanation may reveal a gap, but fluency alone does not establish correctness. Ask listeners to identify the reasoning, then check it against reliable material and revise any error.
Which arrangement supports a group discussion of the assigned material?
Prepared explanations give the group something specific to discuss and check. Verify claims against reliable material and follow the task collaboration rules.
Evaluate the source as well as its format
- Use suitable library resources, databases and other sources. Check the author, relevance, supporting evidence and date where it matters. A database entry or a citation does not by itself prove that a claim is reliable.
- Keep enough details to trace the source. If two accounts differ, identify the claim and evidence before deciding which one fits your task; do not choose solely because one is easier to copy.
A passage looking familiar proves that you can explain it accurately without looking.
Familiarity alone does not show independent explanation. Try the explanation, compare it with the source and correct any gaps.
Review what you can demonstrate
- Re-reading can help you locate an explanation, but familiarity does not establish that you can reproduce or use it. Try an appropriate check without looking, then compare and correct the response.
- Review the goal at the chosen time. Record what was done, what the check showed and one remaining question. A missed target is evidence for revising the plan, not proof of a permanent inability.
A learning goal connects an observable task to a quality check and a review point. Record the evidence, including gaps, rather than treating activity alone as understanding.
