Turn a task list into a usable week
- A to-do list 待办清单 records tasks. A schedule 时间表 assigns a task to an available time and place, with a first action and a review point.
- Check deadlines and required materials before choosing a slot. This is original GAC003-aligned practice; follow your centre's instructions rather than treating one timetable as an assessment rule.
Try a bounded block and check the result
- Attention 注意力 can change across tasks and days. Try a manageable work block with a break and record what you completed or understood. Forty minutes is an example, not a universally best duration.
- Choose a block using available time, the task and your observations. A longer session is not automatically better or worse. Review the output as well as the minutes spent.
A three-hour session is always more productive than shorter blocks with breaks.
There is no universal winner from duration alone. Compare the task output, understanding and available time, and review the block you tried.
Investigate a delayed start
- Procrastination 拖延 means delaying intended action. An unclear first step may contribute, but a single delay does not establish laziness or one certain cause. Check the instructions, resources and other commitments.
- Make a feasible first action specific: open the task brief and list what the paragraph must explain. If the instructions or materials are missing, seek clarification instead of pretending that a timer solves that problem.
A student delays an essay and says they do not know what its first paragraph must explain. Which next action addresses that stated difficulty?
Clarify what the first paragraph needs and choose a specific first action. This addresses the stated uncertainty without diagnosing every delay as the same problem.
Write a first step for "prepare the group presentation" that is small enough to start in two minutes.
Example: "Open a blank slide deck and write the three section titles." Small, specific, startable now.
Name the action and its check
- “Work on the science report” leaves the starting action unclear. “Tuesday 19:00–19:40 at the library desk: draft the method paragraph from the lab notes, then check it against the task brief” is more usable if that slot and the notes are available.
- A schedule supports action but does not guarantee completion. Record an unfinished section honestly and choose the next step before the deadline.
Which entry is a schedule rather than a wish?
The entry names a time, place and concrete first action. Check that the slot and lab notes are available, and include a later quality check.
Work, check, break and restart
- Choose one task and put necessary materials within reach. Reduce avoidable interruptions where practical. At a planned pause, record what remains so restarting does not require reconstructing the whole task.
- Use a short understanding or quality check before claiming progress. Then take the planned break and review whether the block length and conditions helped; do not claim that one trial proves the best method for everyone.
Put these steps of one planned study block in a workable order.
The task and materials come first; review the output and record what remains before the planned break. A timer or one block does not guarantee that the whole assignment is complete.
Revise the week from evidence
- Compare planned and actual work. If a slot was missed or a task took longer, identify the next deadline and update the available slots. Ask early about any change that requires agreement.
- Schedule both preparation and a check of the intended outcome. Starting is useful, but starting alone does not establish that the work is ready to submit.
A work block needs an available slot, a specific action and a check of the output. Record what remains before choosing the next task.
