A difficulty needs a plan, not a label
- Arun wants to explore a course, but he cannot attend its afternoon information session because he helps at home. “I have no chance” is too broad. His immediate barrier is a timetable conflict; it may have more than one response.
- This original GAC032-aligned practice examines supports and barriers in education and career planning. It does not promise that every obstacle can be removed. A useful plan names what you can change, what needs help and what remains uncertain.

Describe the barrier precisely
- Separate information, skill, time, access and resource barriers. “I do not know the entry requirements” needs a reliable information source. “I have not learned the required mathematics” needs a learning plan, not just a link to the requirements.
- Ask what evidence supports your description. Arun knows the session time from the notice and his home commitment from his schedule. He has not yet checked for a recording. Treat “no recording exists” as an unanswered question until he verifies it.

Match support to the actual need
- A teacher can help identify a skill gap; an admissions office can clarify a course requirement; a trusted family member can discuss a schedule. The person who supports one issue may not have authority to decide another. An adviser cannot guarantee admission.
- Make a specific request with a clear deadline. Arun writes: “I cannot attend Thursday's session. Is a recording or another session available? I need to compare the course options by Monday.” He does not need to disclose every private reason for the conflict.
Barrier: afternoon conflict. First action: ask about a recording today. Backup: request a short written answer to two course questions. Review: Friday. Remaining limit: the organiser may offer neither option.

Use an authoritative course source for its requirements; informal support cannot replace that authority. · 使用权威的课程来源获取要求；非正式支持不能替代这种权威性。
Record actions and backup options
- Give each action a responsible person, a date and evidence of completion. “Research more” is vague; “Arun checks the course page and saves the requirement link on Wednesday” can be reviewed. Record a backup without pretending it is already confirmed.
- Distinguish a support available from a support requested. A friend agreeing to check an email is available; an office that has not replied is requested. Your plan should not depend silently on an unconfirmed reply.

Do not promise to work through exhaustion or remove necessary family responsibilities without discussion. A plan must be realistic about time and support, not merely look determined.

Keep sensitive details private
- Share only what the helper needs to answer the request. A planning table displayed to the class can say “schedule conflict” instead of explaining a private family situation. Ask a trusted adult for help with a sensitive barrier you cannot safely handle alone.
- Do not post passwords, personal documents or financial records in a group planning sheet. When a legitimate office needs documents, check its official channel and ask what is required. A helpful-sounding stranger is not automatically an authorised adviser.

Review what the response actually changes
- If the organiser supplies a recording, Arun's information barrier may reduce, but his preparation time still needs planning. If there is no reply, he records that outcome and activates the backup. An unanswered request is neither a confirmed refusal nor confirmed support.
- Make your own barrier table with two issues. For each, identify a realistic action, a person or source, a review date and a backup. Explain one uncertainty that remains after the action; this keeps your plan honest.
Name the barrier precisely, match the support, confirm what is available, protect privacy and review the result before claiming the barrier is solved.
