This unit completes one-, two- and three-blank passages from context, selects two sentence-equivalence choices that give coherent equivalent meanings, and uses logical cues rather than vocabulary similarity.
本单元根据上下文完成一空、两空和三空的段落，选出两个能使句子意思连贯且等同的同义选项，并依靠逻辑线索而不是词汇相似性。
For text completion, predict each blank from the passage before reading the choices.
做填空题时，在看选项之前先根据文章预测每个空的意思。
Support for a later blank may appear earlier.
后面空的依据可能出现在前面。
A two- or three-blank item needs every blank correct, so do not treat the choices as independent mini-scores.
两空或三空题要求每个空都对，所以不要把各空当成独立的小分。
Sentence equivalence needs two choices that both fit and give equivalent sentence meanings.
句子等价题需要两个都能填入、且使句意相同的选项。
A pair of synonyms can both fail the sentence, so check grammar, tone and logic as well as word meaning.
一对同义词可能都不适合这个句子，所以除了词义，还要检查语法、语气和逻辑。
Although signals a contrast between appearance and effort: the design looked simple, so building it was arduous.
“Although”表示外表与付出之间的转折：设计看起来简单，所以建造起来很艰难。
For equivalence, difficult and demanding could both fit this sentence; easy and effortless would reverse the contrast.
对等价题，difficult 和 demanding 都能填入；easy 和 effortless 会把转折反过来。
Do not search only for dictionary synonyms.
不要只找词典里的同义词。
The completed sentence controls equivalence.
完成后的句子决定是否等价。
Predict too early before looking: the unreplicated experiment makes a settled conclusion premature.
看选项前先预测“太早”：关键实验没有重复，所以下定论为时过早（premature）。
Although contrasts admiration for detail with criticism.
Although 把对细节的赞赏和批评对立起来。
Conclusive and inevitable oppose the criticism, exhaustive is about completeness, and irrelevant would need a wrong-issue clue.
conclusive 与 inevitable 与批评相反，exhaustive 讲的是完整，irrelevant 需要“问题不对”的线索。
A and C, qualified and cautious, both give support limited by reservations.
A 和 C，qualified 和 cautious，都表示有保留的支持。
Unconditional contradicts the contrast.
unconditional 与转折矛盾。
Unanimous is about how many agree, immediate about timing, and enthusiastic about intensity.
unanimous 讲有多少人同意，immediate 讲时间，enthusiastic 讲程度。
Fit and equivalent whole-sentence meaning are both needed.
既要能填入，又要整句意思相同。
