Match each word with its meaning in this unit.
Use the example sentences to check each word’s meaning in context.
Build the meaning
- A recount needs a setting, connected events, and a result. Use time markers so readers know what happened before what.
- just, adverb刚 and a moment ago刚才 differ: just, adverb刚 is an adverb immediately before a verb phrase; a moment ago刚才 is a time expression meaning a moment ago.
Do not add details to a source-based retelling simply because they seem likely. For your own fictional story, make the details consistent.
Complete the time adverb: 我____到车站,就发现手机不见了。
刚 modifies 到车站 in this structure.
Listen for a fresh detail
- Listen before revealing the script.
- Replay if you need to. This is practice: if playback is unavailable, use the script as reading and return to listening on a device with Mandarin playback.
Show the listening script and meaning

Show the reading meaning
Yesterday, just after arriving at the station, I noticed my phone was missing. I checked my pockets, then the backpack, and finally found it under a book. I had put it in the wrong place before leaving. After finding it, I caught the train.
What is the result of the reading’s search?
The final sentences state both the discovery and successful departure.
Speak, write, and review
- Retell the search without reading. Your partner asks where the phone was and whether the train was missed.
- Record yourself privately or work with a partner. First try without the model, then compare the meaning and structure; a text checker cannot assess your pronunciation.
