好像 (it seems / as if)

"It seems like…"

• as if好像hǎo xiàng = "it seems / as if / apparently" — a hedge or a likeness.
• as if好像hǎo xiàngto rain下雨xià yǔ(completed / change)了le = "it seems to be raining."
• good好hǎo + to resemble像xiàng → "looks much like (it)".

as if好像hǎo xiàng + Clause

• as if好像hǎo xiàng softens a statement into an impression.

he他tāseems好像hǎo xiàngnot不bùknow知道zhī dào。

• he / him他tāas if好像hǎo xiàngnot不bùto know知道zhī dào = "he seems not to know."

Also "just like"

• as if好像hǎo xiàng can mark resemblance: he / him他tāas if好像hǎo xiànghe / him他tā(coll.) father爸爸bà bà (he's just like his dad).
