Two qualities at once
- A house can be big and bright; coffee can be pricey and nasty.
- To stack two qualities, use the frame again又 … again又 ….
again又 + Adj 1 + again又 + Adj 2
- Pattern: Subject + again又 + Adjective 1 + again又 + Adjective 2 = "both … and …".
this这个house房子both又big大and又bright亮。
- again又see 大夫大again又bright亮 = "both big and bright."
“This house is both big and bright.” 这个房子 ____ 大又亮。
The frame is 又 + Adj1 + 又 + Adj2: 又大又亮.
Keep the same mood
- The two adjectives must share the same feeling — both good, or both bad.
here这里的coffee咖啡both又expensive贵and又bad-tasting难喝。
- again又expensive贵again又difficult / hard难to shout喝 = "both pricey and nasty" — two complaints together.
Correct or broken?
又 … 又 … stacks two qualities — both slots take 又, and no 很 inside.
Which pairing sounds natural?
Both adjectives must share the same feeling: 又便宜又好 (both positive).
Arrange: “The coffee here is both pricey and nasty.”
Subject + 又 + Adj1 + 又 + Adj2: 这里的咖啡 + 又贵 + 又难喝.
Watch out
Don't mix a plus and a minus (again又expensive贵again又good好 sounds off). For two simultaneous actions (not qualities), use one side一边…one side一边… instead.
又…又… can join one good and one bad adjective.
No — the two adjectives must be the same polarity (both good or both bad).
