A decision before an answer
- Four scenes are a sequence, not four unrelated captions. A bag lost in scene one must still be the same bag when returned.
- Your goal: Connect four visible events into a coherent story.
Read the relationship
- The new level-five sample writing lasts forty minutes and includes two tasks: a four-picture story of at least one hundred Chinese characters, then a topic response of at least two hundred. Allocate time for both. This unit teaches the picture-story task; an older fixed-word essay does not replace its visual sequence.
- Write at least one hundred Chinese characters without unsupported plot changes.
Which link fits finding a forgotten bag then contacting the station?
于是 connects the response to the discovery.
Use the defining rule
- Before drafting, identify stable people and objects across all four frames. Mark the initial situation, change, response and outcome. Add ordinary connective details only when compatible with the pictures. Do not change a character’s role or claim a motive the images cannot support.
- Use reference and time links to maintain continuity.
Two men are in a frame; 他 could mean either. What helps?
An explicit noun repairs ambiguous reference.
Check the conditions
- Keep references explicit at the beginning and economical later. Introduce 一个学生, then use 他 when the referent is clear; reintroduce the noun when another person could be confused with him. 发现, 于是, 最后 and 原来 express event relationships, but must fit the actual sequence.
- Use reference and time links to maintain continuity.
Original four scenes: student leaves bag on bus; driver finds it; student calls station; driver returns it. The same bag and student remain identifiable through every event.

Complete the outcome marker: ____，他取回了书包。
最后 signals the final event.
Apply the task format
- Check all four frames against the draft and count characters conservatively. A good story tells why the next action follows, while remaining grounded in what can be seen. Teacher assessment distinguishes missed frame, contradictory inference and grammatical error; correcting one category does not automatically repair the others.
- Use reference and time links to maintain continuity.
Do not write four labels instead of a story or add a theft when the frames only show a forgotten bag.
Which answer fits this case?
Connect four visible events into a coherent story
A four-picture story can omit a frame if the prose is fluent.
Coverage of the whole visual sequence remains part of the task.
