Where things are
- Prepositions of place say where something is.
- The cat is on the bed. The ball is under the table.
- Small words, but very useful.
The cat is under the table. It is not helping with dinner.
东西在哪里
- 地点介词 (prepositions of place) 说明东西在哪里。
- （冠词）The 猫cat 在is 在...上on （冠词）the 床上bed.(猫在床上。)

in / on / under
- in = inside: in the box, in the bag.
- on = on a surface: on the table, on the wall.
- under = below: under the chair.
in / on / under
- in = 在里面:in the box、in the bag。
- on = 在表面上:在on （冠词）the 桌上 /table(在桌上)、on the wall。
- under = 在下面:在...下under （冠词）the 椅子下 /chair(在椅子下)。

A surface (the table top) → on. · 表面(桌面)→ on。

Inside something → in: “in the bag”. · 在里面 → in:in the bag。
Translate into English: 猫在椅子下面。 · 翻译成英语:猫在椅子下面。

next to / between / behind
- next to = beside: next to the door.
- between = in the middle of two things: between the shops.
- behind = at the back; in front of = at the front.
next to / between / behind
- next to = 在旁边:next to the door。
- between = 在两者中间:between the shops。
- behind = 在后面;in front of = 在前面。
in, on or under? · in、on 还是 under?
in = inside, on = on a surface, under = below. · in = 在里面,on = 在表面上,under = 在下面。

Between two people/things → between (… and …). · 在两者之间 → between(… and …)。
Asking Where …?
- Use Where + is / are: Where is my phone? Where are the keys?
- Answer with a preposition: It's on the desk.
问 Where …?

- 用介词回答:It's on the desk.
Common mistakes
- ❌ The picture is in the wall. → ✓ The picture is on the wall.
- ❌ The shop is next the bank. → ✓ next to the bank.
- ❌ between Tom with Sam → ✓ between Tom and Sam.

- ❌ The shop is next the bank. → ✓ next to the bank。—— next to 的 to 不能丢。
