This frame covers 以免. 以免 introduces a result you want to prevent: "so as to avoid", "in order not to", or "lest". The opening clause is the action or the warning. The 以免 clause names the bad result. 以 is "so as to", and 免 is "avoid". It is mildly formal. Notices, instructions, and careful spoken advice all use it.
