Where new life begins
- Humans reproduce sexually, using specialised male and female organs.
- Each system is built to make gametes and bring them together.
Onde a nova vida começa
Match each organ to its role in human reproduction.
Sperm are produced in the: · Os espermatozoides são produzidos nos:
The testes make sperm and testosterone. · Os testículos produzem espermatozoides e testosterona.
The male system
- The testes 睾丸 make sperm 精子 and the hormone testosterone 睾酮.
- Sperm travel through the sperm ducts and leave via the penis.
Human gametes: many small sperm cells and one large egg cell
O sistema masculino
- Os testículos 睾丸 produzem espermatozoides 精子 e o hormônio testosterona 睾酮.

Egg cells are produced in the: · Células ovo são produzidas nos:
The ovaries make eggs and hormones. · Os ovários produzem óvulos e hormônios.
A baby develops in the uterus (womb). · Um bebê se desenvolve no útero (matriz).
The fertilised egg implants and grows in the uterus. · O óvulo fecundado implanta e cresce no útero.
An egg travels from the ovary to the uterus along the ______.
The oviduct carries the egg; fertilisation happens here. · O oviduto transporta o óvulo; a fecundação ocorre aqui.
The female system
- The ovaries 卵巢 make egg cells (ova) and hormones.
- An egg travels down the oviduct 输卵管 to the uterus 子宫 (womb), where a baby could develop.
O sistema feminino
In humans, fertilisation usually happens in the: · Em humanos, a fecundação geralmente ocorre no:
Sperm meet the egg in the oviduct. · Espermatozoides encontram o óvulo no oviduto.
Where fertilisation happens
- Sperm are deposited in the vagina 阴道 and swim up towards an egg.
- Fertilisation usually happens in the oviduct.
Worked example. An egg released from an ovary travels into the oviduct. If sperm are present, one fertilises it there. The fertilised egg then moves to the uterus to implant and grow.
Onde ocorre a fecundação
You've got it
