尽管 … ，但是 … (although)

"Even though…"

• despite尽管jǐn guǎn … ，but但是dàn shì … = "although / even though …, (still) …".
• despite尽管jǐn guǎnto rain下雨xià yǔ，but但是dàn shìwe / us我们wǒ menor / still还是hái shìto go去qù(completed / change)了le = "although it rained, we still went."
• despite尽管jǐn guǎn sets up a concession; but但是dàn shì / or / still还是hái shì delivers the result anyway.

despite尽管jǐn guǎn … ，but但是dàn shì …

• despite尽管jǐn guǎn concedes a fact; the main clause holds despite it.

although尽管jǐn guǎnrain下雨xià yǔ，but但是dàn shìwe我们wǒ menstill还是hái shìgo去qù了le。
