被 sentences (the passive)
When it's done TO you
- The passive: the subject receives the action. "The book was taken."
- Chinese marks it with (passive: by)被 (+ an optional doer).
- book书(passive: by)被he / him他to take away拿走(completed / change)了 = "the book was taken (away) by him."
Subj + (passive: by)被 + (Doer) + Verb Phrase
- (passive: by)被 flags the subject as the one acted upon.
book书by被him他take away拿走了。
- book书(passive: by)被he / him他to take away拿走(completed / change)了 = "the book was taken by him."
