应该 / 该 (should, ought to)

What you ought to do

• Advice, duty, expectation — "you should rest", "we ought to go".
• Chinese says it with should应该yīng gāi (or the short should该gāi).
• One little auxiliary, placed before the verb.

should应该yīng gāi / should该gāi + Verb

• Subj + should应该yīng gāi + Verb — "should / ought to".

you你nǐshould应该yīng gāimore多duōrest休息xiū xi。

• you你nǐshould应该yīng gāimany多duōrest休息xiū xī = "you should rest more."

should该gāi is the short, urgent version

• should该gāi + Verb + (completed / change)了le often means "it's time to …".

should该gāigo走zǒu了le！

• should该gāito walk走zǒu(completed / change)了le = "time to go!"
