Apples and bananas
- Your shopping list has two items. You want to say you are buying both.
- I我to buy买apple苹果and和banana香蕉。 Wǒ mǎi píngguǒ hé xiāngjiāo. — "I'm buying apples and bananas."
Noun + and和 + noun
- and和 (hé) joins two people or things: I我and和you你, you and I; apple苹果and和banana香蕉, apples and bananas.
- It joins nouns and pronouns, not whole sentences or verbs.
I我and和mum妈妈go去shop商店。
Complete: “apples and bananas” 苹果____香蕉

Joining two actions
- To join two sentences, do not use and和. Just put them side by side, or use also也: I我like喜欢to sing a song唱歌，also也like喜欢to dance跳舞。 — "I like singing, and I also like dancing."

Watch out
- and和 joins nouns: I我and和he / him他, not I我to have a meal吃饭and和he / him他to drink tea喝茶.
- For two actions, use a comma and also也, not and和.
