ACT Global Assessment Certificate: what the modules are, and how you are assessed.
Modules by level
A standard delivery is six modules per level over one to three years. Level I is the compulsory core, and centres choose the specialisations at Levels II and III. Each module is about 40 class hours plus 20 hours of independent study.
How GAC is assessed
There is no external examination and no past-paper archive. Every module is assessed continuously at your own Approved Teaching Center across several assessment events, and ACT moderates the results before they are certified. Your transcript reports a grade point average, not an exam score.
The assessment events use these kinds of task:
- Oral Presentations, role play, group discussion, seminars and interviews.
- Written In-class tests and examinations with multiple-choice, short-answer and short-essay questions.
- Essays and reports Academic essays, subject reports, case studies and the college application essay.
- Computer-based Presentation slides, data analysis, website design and video editing.
- Project based learning Literature review, research proposal, group presentation and documentation.
- Coursework Reflective journals, maths projects, a terminology logbook, homework and participation.
What you will find here
Because there are no past papers, this site offers original practice tasks written to match the shape of each module: tests and mock examinations for the maths modules, listening and writing tasks for Academic English, briefs and templates for the skills modules, and practicals you can run in the code playground.
University credit
GAC is recognised for admission and credit transfer by universities in the United States, Australia and elsewhere, and several publish an equivalency table naming individual modules. Check the table of the university you are applying to, since the credit awarded and the grade required differ by institution.
