A decision before an answer
- “Make a decision” and “do homework” use different verbs. Translation alone can hide these patterns.
- Your goal: Choose six vocabulary answers from four options (Part 5).
Une décision avant une réponse
- « Make a decision » et « do homework » utilisent des verbes différents. La traduction seule peut masquer ces schémas.
- Votre objectif : Choisir six réponses de vocabulaire parmi quatre options (Partie 5).
Read the relationship
- Read for topic and meaning before individual gaps. Part 5 tests lexical choices, collocations and semantic fit.
- Supply six single words using grammatical context (Part 6).
Lire la relation
- Lisez pour identifier le sujet et le sens général avant d'aborder les trous individuels. La Partie 5 teste les choix lexicaux, les collocations et l'adéquance sémantique.
- Fournissez six mots uniques en vous appuyant sur le contexte grammatical (Partie 6).
“She ____ a decision.”
Make a decision is the expected collocation.
Use the defining rule
- Compare all four alternatives in the complete sentence. Similar words may take different prepositions.
- Supply six single words using grammatical context (Part 6).
Utiliser la règle définissante
- Comparez les quatre alternatives dans la phrase complète. Des mots similaires peuvent prendre des prépositions différentes.
- Fournissez six mots uniques en vous appuyant sur le contexte grammatical (Partie 6).
“I have studied here ____ two years.”
For gives the duration; since gives a starting point.
Check the conditions
- Part 6 requires one word. Identify whether the gap needs an auxiliary, determiner, pronoun, preposition or connector.
- Supply six single words using grammatical context (Part 6).
“The journey took longer ____ we expected.” Than makes a comparison with longer. Then marks time order, and although introduces contrast. “She has lived here ____ 2021” needs since, marking the starting point.
Vérifiez les conditions
- La Partie 6 requiert un seul mot. Identifiez si le trou nécessite un auxiliaire, un déterminant, un pronom, une préposition ou un connecteur.
- Fournissez six mots uniques en vous appuyant sur le contexte grammatical (Partie 6).
« The journey took longer ____ we expected. » Than établit une comparaison avec longer. Then marque l'ordre temporel, et although introduit une opposition. « She has lived here ____ 2021 » nécessite since, marquant le point de départ.
“This is better ____ the old one.”
Better is comparative and takes than for the comparison.
Apply the task format
- Check tense, agreement and references by rereading the complete text after answering.
- Supply six single words using grammatical context (Part 6).
One-word answers must stay one word. A correct meaning expressed in a phrase does not meet the format.
Appliquer le format de la tâche
- Vérifiez le temps, l'accord et les références en relisant le texte complet après avoir répondu.
- Fournissez six mots uniques en vous appuyant sur le contexte grammatical (Partie 6).
Les réponses d'un seul mot doivent rester d'un seul mot. Une signification correcte exprimée par une phrase ne respecte pas le format.
