HSK2: prepare for your booked exam
Confirm the exam version with your test centre first. The format below belongs to the HSK 3.0 official sample we checked. Older HSK papers have different word lists, counts and tasks.
- Finish the teaching units, then try the short course checkpoint with help closed.
- Open the official sample package. Find the HSK2 paper, matching answers and listening recording. Keep the answers and transcript closed during practice.
- Use the paper’s instructions and recording. Record your answers and note where you needed more time. Ask a teacher to review productive work.
- Review mistakes by type: word meaning, pronunciation, missed detail, sentence structure or task requirements. Revisit one teaching unit, then try an unused task.
Reserve a fresh official form if you need an unseen assessment. Public teaching questions and already-reviewed samples are practice.

Five missing-character-component items and five contextual character fills. The printed key labels are shifted; see the explicit editorial comparison. Automatic official writing scoring remains disabled.
The sample also allows 5 minutes for personal information and 3 minutes for answer transfer. Total written session: about 60 minutes. Follow your booked session’s actual instructions.
Use the matching key carefully
Use exact source keys for objective listening/reading items. The writing comparison is an explicitly labelled editorial reconstruction, not a silently altered official key. Keep automatic official writing scoring disabled; productive tasks require supervised criterion review.
The HSK 2 sample writing paper numbers its tasks 51–60, while the printed key labels the same sequence 54–63. We checked all ten items individually. Preserve the printed originals and use this comparison only for supervised review.
