School and work routines. The routine sentence runs person, time, verb, object. You expresses having, with meiyou as its ordinary negative. And the timetable gets read by rows and columns, keeping class, location and time attached to the right event, which is where the exam sets its traps.
The routine sentence has four slots: person, time, verb, object. Wo shangwu xue Zhongwen, I study Chinese in the morning. A location can slot in before the verb with zai: wo zai xuexiao xue Zhongwen, I study Chinese at school. The questions that probe it: zai nali xuexi, where do you study, zai nali gongzuo, where do you work, shenme shihou, when. Say one real routine of yours in the four-slot order, and the pattern is yours.
You expresses having or existence: xuexiao you tushuguan, the school has a library. Its ordinary negative is meiyou: xuexiao meiyou youyongchi, the school has no swimming pool. Never bu you, which is simply not a Chinese sentence. And the logic of the negative: denying the pool does not deny the library; each sentence is about its own object.
Read the timetable by row and column: zhouyi jiu dian Zhongwen ke, shi dian shuxue ke, Monday nine o'clock Chinese class, ten o'clock maths class. The question, Zhongwen ke ji dian kaishi, when does Chinese class start, is answered by nine, not ten, because the answer stays attached to the right row. Keeping class, location and time attached to the right event is the whole reading skill, and mixing rows is exactly the error the exam plants.
The watch-out is one illegal combination: bu you, which never occurs; the ordinary negative of you is meiyou. And a reading caution that rides with it: a negative sentence denies its own object, so xuexiao meiyou youyongchi denies the pool, and says nothing about the library.
Pause and check both. First, meiyou is the ordinary negative of you; bu you is not a sentence. Second, shenme shihou asks when. The remaining review items: the routine order is person, time, verb, object, wo shangwu xue Zhongwen, and the timetable answer for Chinese class is jiu dian, nine, staying on its own row. You can now describe a routine and read a timetable without mixing rows.
