You have never visited the place being discussed. What does 我从来没去过。 communicate?
The sentence denies a visit within the relevant past. 从来不去 instead describes a habitual policy or behaviour. Affirmative 从来如此 is also possible, so negatives are common rather than compulsory everywhere.
