文本转录
Three pairs of words that translate the same but refuse to swap. Benlai and yuanlai, two originally-s. Changchang and wangwang, two often-s. Gang and gangcai, two just-s. Each pair hides one clean difference, and finding it ends the confusion: the U-turn against the lightbulb, the count against the law, the adverb against the time noun.
Benlai looks back at a plan that changed: wo benlai yao qu Shanghai, danshi qu bu liao le, I was originally going to Shanghai, but then I couldn't. Something was intended, and life redirected it. Yuanlai reports a discovery: yuanlai ni shi laoshi a, oh, so you're a teacher, the lightbulb moment when something you missed becomes clear. Two taglines seal the pair: benlai jiu, of course, it always was; yuanlai ruci, ah, so that's how it is. If nothing changed and you mean it turns out, it is yuanlai, never benlai.
Explain a changed plan. Name the U-turn: wo benlai xiang xue gangqin, I originally wanted to learn piano. Land the change: danshi houlai xue le jita, but later I learned guitar. Check the shape: a plan, a danshi, a different outcome, which is benlai's whole silhouette; the word drags a but behind it wherever it goes. If you had discovered a surprise instead, the discovery tagline would serve: yuanlai ruci.
Changchang is plain often, a frequency count, happy in any tense including the future: ta changchang chidao, he often arrives late; wo yihou hui changchang yundong, I'll exercise often from now on. Wangwang is tends to, a law-like pattern noticed under conditions: youqianren wangwang bijiao mixin, rich people tend to be more superstitious. A law cannot be a plan, so wangwang never describes a future intention, and the future test settles any doubt: put the sentence in tomorrow, and if it survives you wanted changchang. Changchang can shrink to chang, chang qu, go often; wangwang cannot drop a wang.
Gang is an adverb, glued to the verb: wo gang huilai, I just got back, often skipping the le, and before an adjective only gang works, tian gang qing, the sky just cleared. Gangcai is a time noun, a point in the recent past: ni gangcai qu nar le, where did you go just now. Being a noun, it can stand alone, gangcai ne, and just now what, and it can modify another noun: gangcai de shi, the thing from just now. The noun test settles any doubt: if the word owns a de-noun, it must be gangcai, because gang de shi does not work; adverbs cannot take de.
Pause and check both. First, changchang, because a tendency cannot be a future plan; the law does not make appointments. Second, gangcai, the time noun, as in gangcai de shi. The remaining review items: a plan that changed takes benlai, the lightbulb sentence is yuanlai ruci, and the changed-plan try-it is wo benlai xiang xue gangqin, danshi houlai xue le jita. Three pairs, three clean differences, no more confusion.
