HSK four speaking runs on three frames. The opinion frame: wo renwei, I think, with erqie adding a second leg and buguo cushioning the edge. The plan frame: wo dasuan, I plan, and wo zhunbei, I am preparing, both with a time anchor that makes them believable. And the suggestion frame, the friendly three: buru, let us instead, yinggai, ought, and zuihao, best would be, with ba keeping every one of them soft. Strong views, soft edges.
The opinion frame has a claim, a second leg and a cushion. The claim: wo renwei yinggai duo duanlian, I think we should exercise more. The second leg: erqie dui shenti tebie hao, and it is especially good for the body. And the cushion, buguo: I think he did right, but the method could be better, an edge softened without a claim cancelled. Juede is the spoken cousin of renwei, for friends; renwei for formal answers.
The plan frame carries intention and a time anchor. Wo dasuan mingnian qu Beijing gongzuo: I plan to go work in Beijing next year, dasuan for the decision, mingnian for the anchor. Wo zhengzai zhunbei kaoshi: I am preparing for the exam, zhunbei for the getting-ready, and zhengzai says it is already underway. Next year, next month, after the holiday: the anchor makes the plan believable, because a plan without a time is only a wish.
The suggestion frame is the friendly three. Buru, the lightest: buru zuo ditie ba, let us take the subway instead, always offering an alternative to something said before. Yinggai, the ought: ni yinggai zaodian xiuxi, you should rest earlier. Zuihao, the advisory firmest: zuihao tiqian mai piao, best to buy tickets ahead. In order of firmness, buru, yinggai, zuihao, and none of them commands; ba at the end keeps every suggestion soft.
Braid the three into a two-minute answer. The claim: wo renwei jiankang zui zhongyao, I think health matters most. The commitment: suoyi wo dasuan meitian paobu, so I plan to run every day. The invitation: ni ye keyi, buru women yiqi ba, you could too, how about we go together. One breath, three frames, and the invitation closes the circle by handing the floor to the listener.
Watch out. One ought per turn: stacking yinggai twice in one breath turns advice into a lecture. Buru needs an earlier option to replace, because it means instead; with no earlier option on the table, use zuihao. And ba softens suggestions while a softens statements; they are not interchangeable, so mind which end of the sentence you are dressing.
Check yourself. Which word adds a second reason to an opinion? Decided plan versus already preparing: which word for each? Which of the friendly three is the lightest? And why does buru need something said before it? If the three frames braid, your two minutes will speak themselves.
