Collaborative creation starts from a starting point, forms an intention, generates material through devising, and tests it in performance, then evaluates.

A starting point is interrogated, not illustrated.
出发点要被追问，而不是被图解。
Ask what it contains: facts, tensions, silences.

What it connects to: whose story, which structures.

And what it demands of theatre: why it must be staged.

The intention is what the piece is for.

Not a theme, like migration, but a performative aim: make the audience feel a border in their bodies.

Every choice is tested against it.

The starting point is a pile of confiscated border-crossing objects.

They are silent, their owners absent: presence through absence.

The intention: the audience leaves having held something they could not keep.

Image theatre sculpts still images fast and without words.

Physical and vocal composition moves material into the body.

Image theatre generates the line at the fence; improvisation, a guard who cannot stop apologising; writing, the owners' letters.

Shaping orders them: the audience enters past the objects, receives the letters, and the piece ends when every object has been held.

Agree roles, such as a rotating facilitator, a scribe and a timekeeper.

Agree how decisions and disagreement happen.

Three classic failures: the director in disguise, one member's vision silently governing; the polite silence, agreement without scrutiny; and the workshop loop, generating endlessly and never shaping.

Evaluation gathers what the audience did.

Evidence first: three audience members leaned in at the second freeze.

Then the limits: the ending's meaning went unlanded.
