Two steps by one subject

Verbs, not nouns
- and并 / moreover并且 join verb phrases; to join nouns use and / with和: teacher老师and / with和student学生, not teacher老师and并student学生.
- Keep one subject: the same person or group does both actions.
Which sentence is correct?

我买了苹果和香蕉 is right: 和 joins nouns. 并 joins verbs or clauses ("and also"), so it cannot join 苹果 and 香蕉.
and并 + verb versus and并 + not不
- and并 + verb phrase = "and": to discuss讨论and并to pass through通过.
- and并 + not不 / not / haven't没 = "actually not": he他and并not不know知道. Check whether a negative follows.
he他actually并not不know知道。
In 他并不知道, 并 means “and”.

False. Before a negative, 并 strengthens it and corrects an assumption: 他并不知道 “He actually doesn't know (as you might think).” It does not mean “and” here.
