That's not true at all
- Everyone assumes the exam was hard because the class looks tired. In fact it was easy.
- 这次to take an exam考试actually并not不difficult / hard难。 — "This exam actually wasn't hard (contrary to what you think)."
actually并 + not不 / not没 = not at all, actually not
- actually并not不 / actually并not没(to have / there is有) strengthens a negative to correct a mistaken belief.
- actually并 goes right before not不 / not没: he他actually并not没有angry生气 — "He isn't actually angry."

Correct an assumption: “Learning Chinese isn't actually that hard.” 学中文____不那么难。

Correcting an assumption
- everyone大家all / both都to think (i.e. to take it…以为he他to be / is是teacher老师，actually其实he他actually并no不是。 — "Everyone thought he was a teacher, but actually he isn't."
- I我actually并not没say说(ever)过这句old variant of 话话。 — "I never said that."

A correction, not a plain negative
- Use actually并not不 / actually并not没 when someone believes the opposite; for a plain "no", not不 / not没 is enough.
- actually并 never stands alone in this sense: actually并not不difficult / hard难, not actually并difficult / hard难.
actually并not不 versus again又not不
- actually并not不 is calm and fits writing: this这个problem问题actually并not不complicated复杂.
- again又not不 is emotional speech: I我again又no不是you你(modifier / structural particle)的waiter服务员！

并不 sounds calmer than 又不.

Everyone assumes the exam was hard because the class looks tired. In fact it was easy. Close the examples. Say a Mandarin response, then write it in Chinese. Explain briefly in English what the lesson’s pattern adds. Compare with the model, then change one detail and try again.
This is supported productive practice. Compare meaning and structure; your answer need not copy the model. A partner or teacher must hear the spoken response to comment on pronunciation.
