The longer it rains
- You are waiting for the rain to stop, but it only gets heavier.

- the more越 A the more越 B = "the more A, the more B": B grows as A increases. Each the more越 goes before a verb or adjective.

Two subjects, two clauses
- you你the more越practise练习，talk说(degree marker)得the more越well好。 — "The more you practise, the better you speak."
- day天the more越cold冷，person人the more越young少。 — "The colder it gets, the fewer people there are."
you你the more越practise练习，speak说得the more越well好。
Build: “The more you practise, the better you speak.”

Subject + 越 + verb, then 越 + result.
the more越 replaces degree / adjective linker很
- No degree / adjective linker很 after the more越: more and more越来越well好 and the more越talk说the more越fast快, not the more越talk说the more越degree / adjective linker很fast快.
- Each the more越 sits after its own subject: day天the more越cold冷，person人the more越young少, not the more越day天cold冷，the more越人少.
Which sentence is correct?

天越热，人越多 is right: each 越 comes after its own subject (天, 人) and before a bare adjective. Do not put 越 before the subject, or add 很.
the more越 A the more越 B versus more and more越来越
- more and more越来越 + Adj = more and more over time: weather天气more and more越来越cold冷.
- the more越 A the more越 B ties the growth to something else: the more越think想the more越angry生气 — "the more I think about it, the angrier I get."
I我the more越think想the more越angry生气。
越想越生气 means “the more I think about it, the angrier I get.”
