Which picture is right?
- Part 1: "What will the girl buy for her brother?" You hear her consider a book, then a T-shirt, and finally choose a football.
- Three pictures are all mentioned; only one is the final choice. B1 Listening Parts 1 and 2 test key detail and short-extract 片段 meaning.
Parts 1 and 2
- Part 1: seven short extracts, each with three pictures; choose the one that answers the question.
- Part 2: six short dialogues; each question asks about gist, attitude 态度 or a specific detail (for example, "What does the man think about the film?").
Listen past the first option
- Speakers often reject options: "I thought about a book, but he's got so many. A T-shirt? No, he never wears them. I'll get him a football."
- Look at the pictures before listening and name them; then listen for which one survives.
Q: How will they get to the concert? "The bus is cheaper, but it takes ages. Let's get a taxi – I'll pay." → taxi.

- Agreement questions: "Do they agree?" — listen for "I'm not sure about that" or "Exactly!".

Common mistakes
- Choosing a picture because its word was heard, even though it was rejected.
- Missing a negative that changes the attitude ("not as good as…").
If you hear the word for a picture, that picture is the answer.

Write from an on-time bus
- The speaker thought the bus would be late, but it arrived on time.
- The final fact is on time. Late is the expectation, not the outcome. No script on this page is for the learner to read during the task.
A speaker says I thought the bus would be late, but it arrived on time. What happened, and why is late the wrong final answer?
The final opinion or fact comes after the contrast. An earlier plan can be corrected.
What actually happened?

Arrived on time is the outcome. Thought it would be late is the expectation that but corrects.
