A ticket is the stated basis for admission. 凭 introduces a credential, resource or basis. 凭什么 may challenge someone's grounds; it need not be a neutral request for information.
Action before naming the basis
- by凭 + credential / resource / basis + action을 사용하십시오. admission by ticket only凭票入场는 티켓을 명시하고, by凭experience经验to judge判断은 판단에 사용되는 경험을 명시합니다.

- Ask what evidence was actually used. The presence of by凭 names a basis without proving that basis is sufficient or the conclusion is correct.

Read the basis and its limits
- Locate the ticket, experience or effort introduced by by凭, then the action or judgement it supports.

Recall the situation: A ticket is an entry credential. Decide what the speaker wanted to communicate. Close the examples. Say a Mandarin response, then write it in Chinese. Explain briefly in English what the lesson’s pattern adds. Compare with the model, then change one detail and try again.
This is supported productive practice. Compare meaning and structure; your answer need not copy the model. A partner or teacher must hear the spoken response to comment on pronunciation.
