Scope and prerequisites
IB visual arts first assessment 2016; 2027 course tracked separately. Current SL exhibition selects 4–7 works; HL 8–11. SL process portfolio 9–18 screens, HL 13–25; comparative study 10–15 screens plus 3–5 HL screens linking own practice. Use school-selected artists and licensed/credited images.
Mapped preparation outcomes: ib_visual_arts_sl.3.1, ib_visual_arts_sl.3.2. Read the matching native lesson first. Actual approved choices, evidence and final learner work remain separate.
Source vocabulary
resolved artwork 完成作品; curatorial rationale 策展理由说明.
Explanation and worked method
A curatorial rationale joins selection, relationships, spatial arrangement and audience encounter to a coherent intention. Resolved works need actual making and review; a floor plan is preparation rather than exhibition evidence.

Task: compare arranging original studies by material with arranging them by a developing theme. Justify one order and one omission.
Material grouping foregrounds technique; thematic sequencing may foreground a changing idea. Choose according to the actual works and intention, explain sightlines and pacing, and omit a work if it weakens the proposed relationship.
Independent transfer
Viewers may enter the display in reverse order. How could curation preserve the relationship?
Attempt independently before reading the model.
Checked original model
Test sightlines, labels or a sequence that works from either direction, or justify a feasible entrance cue. Compare actual audience encounter with the intention and explain exclusions. A floor plan predicts arrangement but does not demonstrate the completed exhibition.
These are authored formative expectations, not official IB descriptors. Accept other justified arguments with evidence and material limits.
