B2 reading handles paid-writing shapes. The essay argues a case: thesis, counter-argument, reply. The report informs: findings under headings, with no visible author.
B2 阅读面对的是“职业写作”:议论文论证(论点、反方、回应)、报告陈述(标题分节、作者隐身)、评论文章裁决(先亮标准后下判断)。
And criticism judges a work, announcing its criteria before the verdict.
每种文体与读者有不同的契约——先认制服:这篇文章想当谁?
Each shape wears a different uniform, and the uniform is a contract with the reader. Read the uniform first, who is this text trying to be, because misread the uniform and you misread everything after it.
认错制服,后面全错。
An essay is a march in one direction. The thesis stands at the end of the introduction: school uniforms should not be compulsory. Each body paragraph carries one reason, with its evidence under the topic sentence. Then the counter-argument, and a good essay quotes it fairly: granted, some argue uniforms erase inequality. And the reply follows, before the conclusion restates the thesis in triumph, with a consequence attached. March in one direction, but show the other side fairly on the way.
议论文是单方向行军:论点立在引言末句;正文一段一理由,证据垫在主题句下;反方要引用得公道(granted, some argue...),然后回应;结论把论点重申并加一个后果。 方向单一,但途中要公平展示对手。
Reports hide the author. Headings carry the structure, method, findings, recommendations, and each heading answers a question the reader already has. The passive voice is everywhere: participants were surveyed, responses were coded. That is not coldness or evasion; it is the uniform. Every claim arrives with a number or a source, and the recommendations are numbered at the end, which is where a hurried reader starts.
报告让作者隐身:标题扛结构(方法、发现、建议),各答读者一个既有的问题;被动语态满天飞(participants were surveyed),那不是冷漠是制服;每个论断都带数字或来源;建议在末尾编号——赶时间的读者从那里读起。
Criticism judges a work, and honest criticism announces the criteria before the verdict.
评论要裁先亮尺:作为学习用书,它成不成看三条——准确、结构、语气。 然后逐条下判断。
As a study guide, this book succeeds or fails on three counts: accuracy, structure, and voice. The verdict then follows point by point, and fair criticism quotes the work, showing the evidence, not only the judgement. A verdict without visible criteria is just taste with a megaphone; no quote, no verdict.
公道的评论一定引用作品本身:没有引文就没有裁决;不亮标准的裁决只是拿着扩音器的个人口味。
At B2, unknown words are part of the deal. Find the verb and its subject first; the long noun phrases around them are decoration.
B2 有生词是常态:先抓动词和主语,名词短语是装饰;抽象名词反复出现就是主题。
Abstract nouns repeat: meet sustainability five times in a text and it is the topic, however it translates. One unknown word in twenty is B2 normal, but three in one sentence means you have lost the spine, so go back to the topic sentence, not the dictionary.
一句三个生词说明主干丢了——回读主题句,别急着翻词典。
Watch out for three traps. Do not read headings as sentences: they are labels, and the paragraph beneath them carries the claim. The passive voice in a report is not evasive; it is the uniform, so ask instead whether the source is named. And a critic is vivid adjectives are evidence-backed or they are noise: look for the quote before believing the verdict.
三个陷阱:标题是标签不是句子(主张在标题下的段落里);报告的被动语态加具名来源是制服不是推诿;评论里漂亮的形容词背后要有引文,没有引文的裁决只是噪音。
Check yourself. Findings under headings with no visible author: which uniform?
自测:标题分节、作者隐身是哪种文体?
In an essay, where does the thesis usually stand?
议论文的论点常在哪一句?
Name the three counts in the criteria sentence above.
上文的标准句是哪三条?
And the passive voice with a named source: evasive, or uniform?
带具名来源的被动语态是推诿还是制服?
If the uniforms sort themselves, the paid shapes read themselves.
认得清制服,职业文体自己就读完了。
