At SL you perform one or two dances, at least one a solo or duet, totalling 3 to 6 minutes.

At least half the time must be solo or duet work.

The worked programme: the solo Reach (one) for 2:00, and the group Counting House for 2:00.

That is 4 minutes in total, with 2 minutes of solo: the half rule met exactly.

Proficiency is clarity: in space, line and pathway finished; in time, the rhythm held, silences included; in dynamics, weight, time and flow changing as needed; and in movement qualities, such as sustained or percussive.

In Reach (one) the repetitions must shrink in range but keep their clarity.

Communicative expression runs to the other performers, where a duet's timing is a conversation, not a countdown, and to the audience, at an open showing with real viewers.

Interpretation reads each dance's intention.

The same phrase danced as aggression and as grief are different interpretations, and the choice must be legible to the audience.

At the showing, Doorframe for two is interpreted as a negotiation.

The stopped gesture lands off the beat, and the walkers never look at each other until the final unison: the intention legible from the back row.
