A useful situation
- Your goal: Give actionable information and separate it from opinion.
- Before you start, recall dates or named weekdays, affected groups and practical instructions. Keep a confirmed change, a conditional update and a proposal separate so the reader knows what to do now.
Some students suggest Friday, but the responsible person has not decided. Which statement is supported?
Difficulty 1/5 · 100 coins + a small bonus on first completion today
建议 states a proposal and 尚未决定 leaves approval open. Do not convert the proposed weekday into an instruction or cancellation.
Words you will use
- temporarily suspend暂停 zàntíng — temporarily suspend. to serve服务temporarily suspend暂停。

Use the example sentences to check each word’s meaning in context.
Build the meaning
- A notice needs who is affected, what changes, when, where, and what to do. Use explicit dates or named days rather than ambiguous relative time.
- A proposal adds reasons, tradeoffs, and an alternative. Keep persuasive claims separate from the notice’s confirmed instructions.
Work through a decision: A fictional notice says 二楼reading room阅览室Monday星期一temporarily suspend暂停to bloom开放，to ask请to use使用一楼。to seem若to arrange安排(intransitive) to change变化，to desire将to notify at a different…另行通知 — the upstairs reading room closes Monday; use downstairs; changes will be announced. Identify affected area, day and action. It does not close the entire library or supply a new arrangement beyond the stated notice.
Compare a plausible mistake: A notice’s current instructions and a suggestion for future policy serve different purposes. if如果can / may可以，suggest / recommendation建议after以后to arrange安排at / in在vacation假期 proposes a future option; it does not amend the present closure. An expected reopening also retains uncertainty when the notice uses to forecast预计. Preserve the word that controls the instruction’s strength.
Do not present a student’s suggestion as an approved decision. In the revised recording, to forecast预计 retains uncertainty about reopening.
Complete “during the repairs”: 维修____，请使用一楼阅读区。

The restriction names the upstairs reading area and Tuesday morning. The alternative is downstairs, and 借还书服务照常 explicitly preserves borrowing. Keep the time and service boundaries.

The upstairs reading area closes Monday–Tuesday for repairs and resumes Wednesday. Downstairs remains available; borrowing continues. Changes will be announced. A holiday-repair proposal has a tradeoff because training also happens then.

Read this fictional notice: 阅览室星期三暂停开放，预计星期四恢复。期间请使用临时教室。学生提出以后周末维修，但尚未获批。临时教室 means temporary classroom and 维修 repairs. Which summary gives the current action while preserving uncertainty and approval status?

The room closes Wednesday and is expected to reopen Thursday; the temporary classroom is the alternative. Weekend repairs are an unapproved suggestion. The first choice removes the qualifications; the second changes the days and the proposal. Preserve each detail’s status and referent.
Speak, write, and review

Write a notice for a fictional one-day room closure, followed by a separate two-sentence proposal.
Compare the meaning and structure with the checklist. Your own response may differ from the model.
Use Mandarin for your written or spoken response. Write a fictional practical notice naming who or what is affected, a day or time, the change and an alternative action. Add a separate proposal with one tradeoff, clearly marked as unapproved. Have a partner identify the current instructions and what remains uncertain.
If readers cannot tell what to do, specify the alternative and time. If a proposed arrangement appears in the instruction as settled, separate it and restore its approval status. Retain any expected-date qualifier rather than promising certainty.
