The HL solo theatre piece applies one aspect of a theorist you have not studied.

It is a 4 to 7 minute solo, with a report of at most 2,500 words and a continuous, unedited video.

Read the theorist five ways: the claim; the vocabulary it runs on; the context it answered; the practice it generated; and the critics, with the theorist's defence.

A theorist claims theatre's truth lives in the performer's presence, not in representation.

The vocabulary: presence, encounter, the empty space.

The practice: exercises that strip the actor to address the audience directly.

The aspect chosen: direct address as encounter.

The craft is translation: the aspect becomes a performance principle, the principle becomes generative rules, and the rules generate the piece.

The rules: each passage is addressed to an individual spectator by sight; no costume; shared light, so audience and performer see each other; and events happen in the room's real time.

The performer enters, chooses one spectator, and tells them the true reason.

The report covers the theory; the aspect and why it was chosen; the translation into principle, rules and events; the evidence in the video; and an evaluation of where the translation strained.

The top band couples theory and practice throughout: no paragraph of summary without a staging consequence, and no staging choice without its theoretical warrant.
